Greetings from the Northern Studio,

I want to wish you a merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday season. This will likely be my last blog update of 2013. I’m on my way to our internet-free, cellphone-free Christmas hideaway near the Peace River in northern Alberta (see photos). The best way to get messages to me will be to strap one to a friendly-looking moose (be careful; a lot of them look friendly) and point him or her north.

We’ve been off the road, but we continue to add new dates to what looks like an exciting 2014 ahead. If you look on the tour dates page, you’ll see new shows in Framingham, MA, Alta, WY (Grand Targhee), and the Outer Banks of NC, just to name a few. We kick off our touring schedule with a return to The Station Inn in Nashville on January 24th.

I’ll continue to host my satellite radio shows on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction through the holiday season. Though I won’t be there live and in person, my pre-recorded self will be with you on Christmas Eve for a rebroadcast of the mostly-Christmas Truegrass show, which features Christmas classics from artists like The Stanley Brothers, Larry Sparks, Reno and Smiley, and Bill Monroe.

On Friday, December 27th, I’ll have a first-ever 6-hour Truegrass built around classic bluegrass music’s biggest songs, including Foggy Mountain You-know-what, and Rocky You-guessed it. That show will have a special New Years Day rebroadcast at approximately 12:00 noon, eastern. Immediately before that, on New Years Day, Bluegrass Junction will re-air the Track-by-track that featured our new album Lonely Comes Easy. Ned and I took our turn on the other side of the microphone as Kyle Cantrell’s guests. The show airs at 11:00 am, eastern.

Have a wonderful holiday, and we’ll catch up soon. Thanks to Lisa Jacobi of Lisa Web Sites for her great work on this site throughout the year, and thanks to you for visiting it.
