The next two weeks are exciting ones for us here at Night Drivers World Headquarters: The first single release from our forthcoming live album will be released next Tuesday, September 23rd, and will be available to radio stations digitally through Airplay Direct. The song is “Battle of the Bands,” a new Civil War ballad co-written by our bass player Jon Weisberger, Thomm Jutz and Charley Stefl. Before the song’s release you can hear an advance world premiere of the song on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction this coming Thursday, September 18th at 7:00 AM eastern, with a repeat at 10:00 AM eastern, during Kyle Cantrell’s morning show. I’ll be Kyle’s interview guest for the premiere.
“Battle of the Bands” is about a real event that took place before the Battle of Stones River in the last weeks of 1862. I had previously sung it on the first of the 1861 Project series, and it has become a popular song on our live shows.
The live album, meanwhile, will be officially released on October 7th, with copies going out to radio in the last week of September. The album is called “Live at the Old Feed Store,” because it was recorded, well, live at The Old Feed Store in Cobden, IL. We’ll return to the Old Feed Store on October 8th to play a concert and celebrate the release.
Information on ordering the new CD will be coming soon. Around the time of the release, we have added new dates in Nashville, TN, Franklin, TN, and some special private concerts in Switzerland. See the tour dates page for details.
