The summer, even with its heat and its smokiness in some parts, has been a very exciting one for the Night Drivers and me.
For starters, our banjo player for the last two and a half years, Gina Furtado (Clowes), picked up her first ever nomination for IBMA Banjo Player of the Year. Additionally, Jon Weisberger is nominated for Songwriter of the Year, an award he won a few years ago. He is also nominated for a Momentum Mentor award. Meanwhile, I managed to snag a nomination for Print/Media person for my weekly Bluegrass Today column.
Also just in: we are pleased and proud to announce that we are signing with the Midwood Entertainment agency out of Asheville, NC, who will begin representing us exclusively. They have a high quality and diverse mix of artists on their roster, and we think this will be the perfect fit for where we are right now and where we’re heading. You’ll find their information on our contact page.
We also got the good news this week that after already spending a few weeks in the Bluegrass Today top 5, “Bend in the Road,” our first single release from our new set of recordings for Mountain Home, has hit the #1 spot for the second straight week. We’re very grateful to radio programmers for playing it and to listeners for asking for it.
We want to remind you that you can stream it and other songs of ours from our Spotify artist page.
We have lots of tour dates we’re looking forward to in the next month or so, including appearances at Bean Blossom, The Walnut Valley Festival (Winfield), The George Hamilton IV Folksy Fest in Winston Salem, Wide Open Bluegrass in Raleigh, and the Hylton Arts Center in Manassas, VA. Coming up this Labor Day weekend, we’ll be at the Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival in Woodstown, NJ. Details are on our tour dates page.
Have an excellent end of summer. Go ahead and wear white after Labour Day/Labor Day; we won’t judge.
